Some cultural notes:
Sarcochilus (Australian native orchids) are very easy to grow. They are cold tolerant but keep them fairly dry over the colder months. To this end we use Orchiata Power potting bark. Add 20% super coarse Perlite if you wish for a better breathing mix. Well drained pots are a must and do not over pot. We only use Orchid Osmo(see Sundries) which is low in Nitrogen  and high in Potash essential for good flowering. Other similar NPK fertilisers will work well too but we find the gentle slow release of this Osmocote the simple solution to feeding orchids.

Shade well in summer and keep a moist environment at all times. In severe heat gently spray leaves a few times during the hottest part of the day. Do not let them dry out. Sarcochilus are prone to fungal leaf spotting. Use Eco fungicide regularly or a spray suitable for black spot in roses. Eco Fungicide is non toxic so is the best choice in our book. Don’t forget to slug bait on a regular basis. Snails and slugs find Sarcochilus irresistible.
